On May 7th, ASM Tech Growth had the privilege of bringing together CEOs, CTOs, IT Managers and technology leaders in DFactory Barcelona in an executive session focused on one of the biggest current challenges for organizations: the real protection of the business in Microsoft 365 environments.
The call, made together with our technology partner Hornetsecurity, exceeded our expectations both in terms of the level of participation and, especially, the quality of the conversations generated during the day.
Beyond a technology session, the meeting became a space for strategic reflection on a topic that is already part of the agenda of any management committee: how to reduce exposure to digital risk and ensure the operational continuity of the business.
An issue that is of increasing concern to business management
Over the past few years, Microsoft 365 has established itself as the predominant productivity platform for thousands of organizations. However, one of the most relevant conclusions of the session was clear:
Many companies still maintain a false sense of security about the actual level of protection of their data in Microsoft 365.
Although the platform offers a robust ecosystem, there are limitations related to:
- Granular information retrieval
- Protection against ransomware and advanced threats
- Data retention and compliance
- Operational continuity in the face of critical incidents
This point generated a high level of interest among the attendees, especially when addressing the shared responsibility model, a reality that is still unknown to many organizations.
The question is no longer "if it will happen", but "when"
One of the most commented messages of the day was a reflection that summarizes the current context well:
The problem is no longer suffering an incident, but not being prepared to recover from it.
Today, threats are more sophisticated, automated, and persistent. Advanced phishing attacks, ransomware, or accidental data deletion can directly impact a company's operations, reputation, and responsiveness.
Therefore, talking about cybersecurity no longer only means talking about technology.
It means talking about:
Business continuity
Operational resilience
Protecting Business Knowledge
Risk mitigation
And, above all, the ability to continue operating when an incident occurs.
A conversation focused on business, not technology
One of the aspects best valued by the participants was the focus of the session.
Far from an overly technical presentation, the objective was to address cybersecurity from an executive and strategic perspective:
What real impact would losing access to critical information for hours or days have?
How does this affect the business, customers, and operations?
Are we really ready to regain control quickly?
This change of conversation – from technology to business – is precisely the approach that ASM promotes in our projects.
Because cybersecurity should not be understood as a technological purchase, but as a business protection decision.
The value of sharing real experiences
In addition to the content, another of the most enriching elements of the event was the exchange of experiences between professionals from different sectors.
The reality is that many of the challenges are common:
- Complex hybrid infrastructures
- IT equipment under constant pressure
- Increased regulatory risk
- Need to protect more with fewer resources
Generating this type of conversation spaces is something that we consider fundamental for the business and technology ecosystem.
Thank you for making it possible
We want to sincerely thank all the people who accompanied us during this day.
The level of participation, the questions posed and the interest generated confirm something that we see more clearly every day:
Cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue. It's a business priority.
We also want to thank Hornetsecurity for sharing vision, experience and solutions around such a critical challenge for today's organizations.
This is just the beginning
At ASM Tech Growth we remain committed to creating spaces of value for our clients and the market.
For this reason, this event marks only the beginning of new sessions, meetings and conversations on:
- Advanced Cybersecurity
- Business continuity
- Cloud protection
- Artificial intelligence applied to business
- Technological transformation
If you weren't able to join us for this edition or want to learn more about how to strengthen your organization's protection in Microsoft 365, we'd be happy to talk to you.
Because protecting the business is what is really important.
